Michael (Mickey) Prokopiak, 70, beloved husband, was called to his eternal resting place on February 15, 2019. He entered this world on December 18, 1948 in Syracuse, NY, born to Michael and Joan Prokopiak. He is survived by his wife, Madonna Prokopiak; his son, Matt Booth and his partner, Kellie Knapp; daughter, Kim Templeton and her husband, Joey Templeton; granddaughters, Alice Templeton and Marisa Templeton; mother, Joan Prokopiak; brother, Will Prokopiak; and sisters, Chris Prokopiak, Judy Prokopiak, and Kathy Hancock.
Mickey served the community as a Performing Arts teacher at Albuquerque Academy for the past 39 years and was passionate about enriching the lives of his students (or kids, as he so affectionately referred to them). He starred in many performances over the years throughout the Albuquerque theater community and also directed many shows. Mickey could also be found in several films, commercials, and the occasional cereal box. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh and warm smile. Mickey was forever humble and selfless with his time and resources. He inspired a countless number of students, was a father figure to many who had none, and genuinely gave young people the inspiration that they could change the world. Mickey's love, spirit, and passion will be forever missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Simms Auditorium on the campus of Albuquerque Academy with a reception to follow immediately in the foyer.
