Our Story
Chester T. French came to New Mexico from Tennessee in 1904, hoping the arid climate would aid his brother’s battle with tuberculosis. Captivated by the beauty of the region and the warmth of its people, he chose to make Albuquerque his home and devoted his life to supporting families in times of loss.
In 1907, he founded French Mortuary at the corner of 5th and Central in downtown Albuquerque. His legacy continued through his grandsons, Chester French Stewart and Robert H. Stewart, who led the business with dedication and care until their retirement.
Today, we carry that legacy forward. It is both our honor and our calling to walk alongside families during life’s most difficult moments—offering compassion, dignity, and personalized care as they remember and celebrate the lives of those they love.
