David Paul McNichol

David Paul McNichol was born on August 29, 1960, and relocated to heaven on Friday, January 28, 2022. He was born in Fort Dix, NJ to Paul and Viola. His family moved to France when he was a few months old. The family moved around quite a bit with the military and finally settled in Albuquerque in 1965. After attending several Albuquerque schools, David graduated from Manzano High School in 1978. He went into the Navy and served most of his enlistment in San Diego. He was on an aircraft carrier for seven months. Upon completing his military service, he returned to Albuquerque and worked as a mobile disc jockey. During that time, David made the most important decision of his life... to commit his life to Jesus. He hosted a Christian Rock radio show, served in the youth ministry, learned to play guitar, and lead worship while attending Calvary of Albuquerque. He attended TVI and earned an associate degree in Digital Electronics. David worked at Honeywell Defense Avionics for 12 years and was thankful to have worked at Intel Corporation for a combined 20+ years.

In 1994, David and Natalie were married and began their life together. They both worked and enjoyed time with friends, as well as being a part of small groups fellowships. After some painful miscarriages, fertility struggles, fervent prayer and divine healing, God blessed them with their son, Aidan Neal. (With God all things are possible. Matt. 19:26.) Three years later, God poured out his grace and gave them a beautiful daughter, aptly named Julia Grace. In God's wisdom and abundance, their loveable Holly Jo was added to the family just 21 months later. David was so proud of his kids and is now with their children in heaven. Family life followed with all its joys, struggles, learning, and training for everyone! They enjoyed family time in the backyard, playing games, and family trips. The most notable trip being a cross country trek to visit the McNichol family in Massachusetts with lots of stops along the way!

David was an avid sports fan but had a special love for football and baseball. His man cave is decked out with Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Cubs gear. He was a two-time winner of his fantasy football group called "The Potato League." His favorite though, was watching his kids participate in their activities and sports. The family has made lifelong friends through their associations with Paradise Hills Little League, Cross of Hope School, Hope Christian School, and Hope Christian Baseball. They have most recently enjoyed travelling to New Mexico Highlands University to watch Aidan play baseball for the Cowboys. David loved to ride his bike, work on his yard, spend time with extended family and enjoyed a good IPA.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife of 28 years, Natalie, and his children, Aidan (fiancée Victoria), Julia and Holly. His life will be forever cherished by his mom, Viola and stepdad Bill, his older sister, his younger siblings Don and Lisa (Clarence), his nephews Elijah (Naomi), Elliott, Graham (Maggy), his niece Melinda (Cody, Atley & Everly), his aunt and uncle Orie & Nellie, his brother-in-law Neal (Nancy) and his sister-in-law Nancy as well as his many cousins. He will be missed by his greatest friends Pete, Mark, Sheri, Ray, Jeff and so many others. He is preceded in death by his father Paul, father and mother in-law Bob & Barb, and his sister-in-law Cindy.

A Memorial Service is being held for David at New Covenant Church (7201 Paseo del Norte NE) on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 11:00 am. The service will also be live streamed. The link will be made available by Friday.

His burial, with military honors, will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE in Albuquerque.
