Thomas Grasser

d. June 1, 2021

Thomas GrasserThomas Grasser, passed away June 1, 2021.

He was born September 6, 1924, in Kenosha, WI.  Following graduation, Thomas served in the US Army under Gen Patton’s Third Army where he experienced the Battle of the Bulge, Massacre at Malmady, and liberated the holocaust camps of Dachau & Buchenwald.  He received the Bronze Star & French Legion of Honor Medal for his exemplary service.  His additional military service after WWII included the Navy & National Guard.

After the war, Tom came to NM and married the “love of his life”, Maria Montoya.  They raised an amazing family of four children, Linda, Pamela, Tom, and Valerie.  Thomas was a devoted Catholic and attributed his safe passage during WWII to his faith and Guardian Angels.  After the war, Tom would give anyone he met a blessed Guardian Angel medal to let people know that they were watched over by Guardian Angels and loved by God.  There are thousands of people from all over the world who have received these medals from Thomas.  Thomas lived each day with gratitude and never hesitated to share it with everyone he met.

A Rosary & Memorial will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at John XXIII Catholic Church.  Interment will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
