Steven Ballard

Steven “Steve" Ballard, age 73, originally from Portland, Oregon passed away peacefully at his home in Albuquerque, NM home on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

He retired from the USAF as a Master Sergeant, serving his country from 1968-1988. During this time, he fell in love with and married Marie Ballard in 1972. After retiring from the Air Force, he went on to work for 20 years at the VA hospital in Albuquerque as a health tech, continuing to serve his country and fellow veterans. Upon retirement, he enjoyed being a Legion Rider at NM Post 99. He loved to travel with his wife. His daughter will always have fond memories of their father-daughter cross-country motorcycle trip. Everything he did was to make sure that his wife and daughter were always cared for.  He was a diehard Washington Redskins and Yankees fan. He was thoughtful, kind, loving and loyal, and was a proud American and Vietnam Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Ann Ballard and parents, Isla and Elmer Ballard. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie Ballard, and three sisters, Margot Glover, Marilyn Ballard-Bedell, and Wendy Ballard-Turner.

Friends may visit on Monday, June 21, 2021, 5:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.  Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 22, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Road NE. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
