Stella (Chavez) Fuentes

Stella Chavez Fuentes, beloved mother and grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on Sunday, June 9, 2019. She entered this world on Monday, July 20,1931 in Belen, NM, born to Fermin and Adela Chavez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Placido Fuentes; son, Lawrence Romero; grandson, John Paul Davis; stepson, Arthur Fuentes; her parents, as well as her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Corinne Davis; son, Steve Romero; granddaughter, Heather; great-grandson, Gabriel; stepdaughters, Susan, Cecilia, Rita, Maria, Ruth; and stepson, Pete, as well as their spouses; her sisters, Margaret Gallegos and Fred, Susie Chavez; brother, George Chavez; many nieces and nephews; and long-time friends, especially Rose Romero Thomas.

She was an amazing woman who always tried to look on the bright side of things and was a very caring a nurturing mother and grandmother. She never complained even though she went through many challenges with her health the past several years. She was a woman of faith and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She worked in cosmetics in drugstores for most of her life until she retired from Duran's Central Pharmacy many years ago.

She also wrote a book "Growing Up During the Depression" where she talks about her life experiences growing up during these tough times with her parents and twelve (12) children in the house, even though they were poor, they were always happy.

May her soul now rest in peace, my beautiful mom. She will be missed very much by all who knew her.

Memorial Services will be held Monday, June 17, 2019 at Queen of Heaven Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE., with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial following the Mass, will be at Sunset Memorial Park located at 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with reception following back at Queen of Heaven Parish Hall.
