Ross Patrick Armijo Sr, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Ross was born to Patsy (Limon) and Ross Armijo on Monday, March 13, 1950 in Albuquerque. He was pre-deceased by his parents Ross and Patsy Armijo, and sister, Vivian Armijo-Cordova and stepfather, Clyde Partch.
He is survived by his life-partner of 22 years, Nina Klastorin; daughter, Monica Montano and husband Nevin; grandchildren, Jazmyn, Breana, Nevin Jr., and Destiny; son, Ross Armijo Jr; granddaughters, Ezra and Azure Armijo; step-daughters, Mayera Abeita and Jessica Abeita and their children Elan, Graham and Archer; sister, Trudy Leyba and husband Julian; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be remembered and missed by many friends and extended family members who loved him dearly, especially US Army and Vietnam veteran brothers from the 175th AHC Outlaws, Roy, Ivey, Tony, Obie, Roger and Dave. He was very proud to have served his country and had a great zest for life.
Ross was extremely proud of his heritage. His historic Armijo home was in Old Town and is now the restaurant La Placitas, Ross’ father being the last Armijo born there.
Prior to his retirement, Ross was an electrical engineer and worked as a Quality Engineer Manager for IBM. His real passion was automobiles. Starting as a young man and self-taught, he cared for his 1966 Mustang fastback which his Uncle Sabine had given him and most proud of his completely restored 1939 Packard. He generously shared his knowledge and skills with relatives and friends.
Formal interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Veterans Cemetery at a date to be announced in the near future on the French Funerals and Cremations website.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to the Vietnam Veterans organizations of your choice.
