Roscoe Faussone

d. March 2, 2021

Roscoe Faussone, 93, left this world on March 2, 2021.

Roscoe was born on June 25, 1927 to Mary (DeJulio) and Tony Faussone in Montrose, Colorado. After graduating from Montrose High School, Roscoe moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico and worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory in the materials technology department. After losing his first wife, Anita, Roscoe married his longtime neighbor, Martha Hume, also recently widowed, on January 2, 1981. Martha had four children which became Roscoe’s family when they married. Roscoe retired from the Lab in 1984 and had a home built in Albuquerque to be closer to Martha’s children and grandchildren.

Roscoe is survived by his sister, June Lay; step-children, Peggy Rustin, Gordon Hume, Donald Hume, and Dennis Hume, and their respective spouses; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who loved and respected him.  He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; second wife; niece, Mary Lay Camp; and grandson, James Rustin.

Roscoe was full of life and a pillar of strength to his family and friends.  He took on the role of parenting and grandparenting seamlessly after marrying Martha, and very seldom missed a family celebration or family reunion which were often held at his home in Albuquerque. Roscoe and Martha enjoyed going to UNM Lobo basketball games and spent time traveling in their motorhome, visiting 46 out of the 50 States including trips to Mexico and Canada. He was also active with the Elks Club, an avid bowler, and enjoyed tending his beautiful garden at home. He was known for being a self-proclaimed grouch, but with a heart of pure gold. He was strong in his Catholic faith and faithfully committed to his wife of almost 40 years Martha who departed in December 2020. He fulfilled his promise to her of never placing her in a home and was by her side when she took her last breath at home. Martha and Roscoe are together again, walking hand in hand in God’s rose garden, surrounded by those who journeyed before them and waiting for the rest of us to join them. His legacy lives on in all those who were lucky enough to know him.
