Rita Gandert Schroeder

July 9, 1931 — August 19, 2021

Rita Gandert Schroeder, 90, a beloved lady of faith and grace passed away in Albuquerque on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend. Rita was a Registered Nurse and Nurse Administrator for 55 years.

She was born in Chacon, New Mexico on July 9, 1931. Rita graduated from Mora High School and went on to the Regina School of Nursing in Albuquerque where she graduated on August 31, 1958. Rita also received her Master of Science degree from the College of St. Francis in May 1985.

She met and married the love of her life, William C. Schroeder, USMC Ret. on November 26, 1960. They had many grand adventures together and raised one son, Charles. They were married 49 years until her beloved Marine went home to Heaven on September 4, 2009. She is survived by her sister, Martha (Dick Markwood); son, Charles Schroeder and wife, Karen; grandchildren, William, and Sophie; and many other loving family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at FRENCH-Wyoming on September 15, 2021, at 7pm. A Rosary at 9:30 am and Mass at 10:00 am will be held on September 16, 2021, at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Masks and Social Distancing should be followed, as appropriate. The family requests that in lieu of flowers; donations be made to the Good Shepherd Center at PO Box 749, Albuquerque, NM 87103. Rita will be greatly missed; however, she will remain in our hearts and her legacy will continue to be a positive influence in our lives.
