Olga (Carrillo) Sandoval

November 7, 1929 — November 11, 2021

Olga Sandoval, age 92, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully with her family by her side November 11, 2021. Olga grew up in Martineztown and spent much of her youth at the Second Presbyterian Church where she met the love of her life, husband Alfonso Sandoval.

Olga was preceded in death by her husband Alfonso F. Sandoval, her mother Soledad and Manuel Carrillo; sister Mary Shoats, brothers, Ramon Carrillo, Tino Carrillo, Roland Carrillo. She is survived by her children, Deborah Woodward and husband Wauley of Bosque Farms, NM, and Lita Sandoval of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Juanita Sandoval of Tucson, AZ, and Marisa Wickham of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Olga volunteered for many organizations over the years, including the original Albuquerque Museum Gift Shop at the Old Sunport, the Auxiliary Dental Wives Association in the 1960s, Pan American Round Table, and every school her children and grandchildren attended being the best "room mother" and library assistant. Olga never missed an opportunity to nurture and help countless children learn how to read and write.

She loved to garden and also loved to embroider, sew, do all kinds of arts and crafts projects.  Her sense of fashion was unmatched and her love of shoes was unparalleled.

No one could rival her quick one-liners and her laughter was infectious. Her "Olga-isms" are legendary.

The family would like to express our sincere thanks to all of the family members, friends, and caretakers who helped with providing Olga such great care for her over the years, and a special thanks to Palma Castillo, who was with her every day embroidering, laughing, and watching the Young and the Restless.

Private services will be held. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Locker #505, Alzheimer's Association of NM, Dual Language Education of NM.
