Max Howard Pope

Max Howard Pope was born on Wednesday, April 4, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana, to parents Evelyn and Leo Pope. He graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend and received a Bachelor of Science in business from Indiana University. Max also served as a US Navy Seal for three terms in the Vietnam War, earning two Purple Hearts.  In 1992, Max married Patricia Homeier in Indianapolis, IN, and later had two children, Evelyn and Howard. The family moved to New Mexico in 2005, where Max worked as a network analyst for FedEx. After retiring, he worked at Alliance Data in Rio Rancho.

Max had many and varied interests throughout his life, including cooking (especially Asian cuisine), hiking, biking, camping, and shooting. He also loved dogs, Star Wars, and all 5.11 apparel. Max was a member of Sandia Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque and involved with Boy Scout Troop 17. He was a kind and gentle soul with a wacky sense of humor and a true spirit of adventure.  Max will be loved and missed by his family, Trish, Evie, and Howie Pope; Bob, Patty, and Theresa Homeier; and Gregg and Karen Izdepski, Brent and Alec Wyatt, and Jessi Kunkel.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, 5:00 p.m., FRENCH – Rio Rancho. From 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the family will visit with guests and remember Max. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held in Max’s honor.  Memorial contributions may be made to Paws and Stripes https://www.pawsandstripes.org/
