Mary Madeline (Jensen) Halper

June 16, 1936 — June 6, 2021

Mary Madeline Halper, 84, of Albuquerque, NM peacefully passed away June 6, 2021, after an extended battle with cancer with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Morgan M. and Adela Jensen, June 16, 1936, in San Rafael, NM and raised in southwestern Colorado. Madeline graduated from Nucla High in 1954, in Nucla, CO and attended Western Colorado University. After visiting relatives in Albuquerque, she fell in love with the people, culture and way of life and made it her home in 1955.

Madeline is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Herman J. Halper; her children, Robert J. Halper of Austin, TX, Cindy M. Lockin (Jim) of Albuquerque, NM and Cathy S. Halper of Tucson, AZ. She was a doting 'Nana' to her pride and joy, grandson 'CJ' Christopher J. Martinez II of Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by her sister, Jackie Hume of Sheridan, WY and numerous other relatives and friends.

Known for her incredible fashion sense and love of people, she enjoyed her career at Dillard's Women's Clothing Department where she made many long and meaningful friendships.

Rosary/service will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 10:00am at FRENCH-Wyoming. Immediately following will be an interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE.

Funeral reception will follow internment services at El Patron Restaurant, 10551 Montgomery Blvd NE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
