Mark Allapowa Hammond

April 2, 1974 — April 23, 2022

Mark Allapowa Hammond (Zuni name DeLousi) passed away peacefully on Saturday morning April 23rd surrounded by his immediate family including his biggest treasure on this earth- his daughter, Isabelle. Mark was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 2nd, 1974. He moved to Albuquerque in 1986 and attended middle school at Eisenhower and later high school at La Cueva where he graduated in 1992. He served a volunteer two-year mission for his church in the West Indie Islands. He went on to attend the University of New Mexico. He then began his career in commercial real estate in 1996 as a young man and was mentored by Roger Cox, a family friend. At Roger Cox and Associates, he slowly worked his way up to president and sales manager of brokerage. He was known for mentoring a lot of the younger brokers. He was a board member from 2013-2016 on the Commercial Association of Realtors of New Mexico (CARNM) and was awarded the 2018 CCIM Deal of the Year Award. The center of his world was raising his daughter, Isabelle who is 17 years old. He enjoyed making memories with her with trips to Disneyland, SeaWorld, Taos ski resort, Zion and Bryce National Parks. He also enjoyed exploring the state especially going on hikes and camping as a young man with his close cousin, Levi Lementino. He was known as the fun and cool uncle by his six nephews and nieces, who he always spoiled. His sudden illness and quick passing were a shock but we rejoice in the fact that we know we will see him again one day. We are grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He is survived by his daughter, Isabelle, mother Gloria, brother Chris, sister-in-law Elise, and their children- Connor, Julia, Dylan, Owen, Tessa, and Pippa. He had extensive family from Zuni Pueblo (turkey clan), including Uncle Edison Allapowa (deceased), his wife Marilyn; Aunt Julia & Roland Lementino (both deceased), Aunt Carmelita Sanchez and her husband Michael (deceased), Aunt Annabelle and William Tsikewa (both deceased), Aunt Geneva and William Zunie (both deceased), Uncle Chet and Cristin Allapowa, grandparents Tom L and Tessa Allapowa (both deceased), great uncles Enote, DeLousi, and Ashcoowya as well as numerous beloved cousins. Father D. Corydon Hammond, Aunt Suzanne Curley (Michael), Aunt Linda Hansen (Bruce) all from Utah, grandparents Cleo and Lee Hammond (both deceased).
