Marie Christine (Ruiz) Abeyta

June 2, 1934 — May 7, 2023

Our precious mother Marie (Dolly) Abeyta 88, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, in the presence of her loving family. Dolly was preceded in death by her loving husband, Severiano (Seve) of 69 years. She is a beloved mother to her surviving children, Debbie Sanchez (Conrad), Michael Abeyta (Shirley), Rosalie Duran, and Stan Abeyta (Vicky); grandchildren, Dominic Chavez, JR Duran, Cris Duran, Vanessa Abeyta, Gabriel Abeyta, Andrew Abeyta, Adam Abeyta, Alyssa Abeyta, and Jacob Sanchez; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Ruiz and John Ruiz; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Essey L. Ruiz and Marie C Ruiz of San Diego; and sister, Guadalupe "Lupe" Aldrich.

Dolly was born in San Diego, California on June 2, 1934 and was raised in San Diego until in 1954 she married the love of her life Seve and moved to Albuquerque where she raised her family. "Dolly" was her childhood nickname while her sister was "Baby", very fitting names for both.

Dolly was a homemaker who loved her family and enjoyed giving back to the community by sharing her gift of knitting. She cared for her children with unwavering love and support, always putting their needs before her own. Dolly's love for knitting was a gift that all her family and friends benefited from with either personalized Christmas stockings, baby sweaters, Afghan blankets and many other items. Dolly knitted many newborn hats and booties where she and her husband Seve would hand them out at hospitals to the newborn babies. She was very talented and often gave lessons to others wishing to learn to knit.

She also loved to dance, any type of music at any venue or occasion, you would find Dolly dancing with Seve. They were always first on the dance floor and last to leave the dance floor. Also, when the opportunity would arise you would see them leading a Wedding Marcha. She was always "lots of fun".

Dolly was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend, she was always thinking of others and her love of life, and her sincere care of people delighted everyone she knew. Any time you went to the house you were sure to leave with an amazing meal and a hug.
