Linda Sanchez

June 18, 1931 — January 20, 2021

Linda Sanchez left an undeniable footprint in this world. She loved with her whole heart, gave generously, and was a woman of deep faith. She was born on Thursday, June 18, 1931 to Jose Sandoval and Felipa Silva Sandoval. She lost her loving mother Felipa at a young age, but that only propelled her to become the most devoted mother two boys could ever ask for. She was resilient, wise, and strong. She loved her sons Johnny and Stan Mirabal with a fierce, protective, selfless kind of love and that bond only grew stronger with each passing year. She also loved Jamie Watkins and her daughter-in-law, Mary “Nena” Mirabal whom she considered her very own beloved daughter for 51 years. On Saturday, December 19, 1959, Linda married her husband Jesus Sanchez and they shared 61 years by each other’s side.
Linda had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, John “Gary” Mirabal, Frank and Tess Mirabal, Darren Mirabal and Dolores Sanchez-Mirabal, Michelle Mirabal, Desiree Mirabal Marquez, Denise Trujillo, and Alicia and Daniel Manzano. She had a unique relationship with each one of them which was reflected in their special nicknames. Her heart also overflowed with joy when she could see her great-grandchildren, Exavier Viramontez, Matthew Sanchez, Analisse Mirabal, Jaelyn Trujillo, Marissa Marquez, Josiah Trujillo, Danika Marquez, Jeremiah Trujillo, Noah Marquez and Aliana Manzano.
She was very outgoing and had a unique way of connecting with people. She thoroughly enjoyed visits from her many friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins—she loved them all dearly. Linda was not a stay in her armchair, knitting kind of Nana. She was a texting, Facebook posting, The Voice watching, hip kind of Nana. She also was full of humor and very sharp—she never forgot a birthday, from her sons down to her great-grandchildren. She was truly remarkable.
Her cherished Mom, Dad, brothers Joe and Ernie Sandoval, and sisters Corrine Zamora and Marina Maldonado were surely eagerly waiting to celebrate on the streets of gold when she joined them on January 20, 2021. Linda leaves behind her treasured sister, Mary “Lipa” Jaramillo; her sister-in-law, Martha Sandoval; her loving relatives, Albita Garcia, Mela Ulibarri, Lala Gonzalez; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be: John Mirabal, Frank Mirabal, Darren Mirabal, Daniel Manzano, Exavier Viramontez, and Josiah Trujillo. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her honor on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only immediate family will be permitted to attend the funeral mass in person with appropriate social distancing and masks.
