LeRoy Dennis Crandell
November 28, 1938 – January 14, 2021

LeRoy (Lee) Dennis Crandell, like so many before him, left this world and his loved ones too soon on the evening of January 14. He was comforted by his family at his side. He is preceded in death by his parents Orvel and Edna Crandell, his precious wife Joyce Economy Crandell and his siblings, Orvel (Maxine) Crandell, Shirley (James) Betts and Ellis Crandell. He is survived by his sweet fiancé Wanda Gilliland, his daughters Stephanie (Jimmy) Dikis and Michele (Bill) Hantzopoulos, his brother Norman (Pat) Crandell, in-laws Joan (Ted) Dwight, Steve (Sue) Economy and Jim (Maureen) Economy. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren John (Susan) Dikis, Jamie (HB) Garcia, Josh Dikis, Georgea Hantzopoulos and George Hantzopoulos. And his adorable great-grandchildren Kaius and Everly Garcia, James Dikis and Parks Dikis, all with whom he found so much joy just watching them. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Lee loved telling stories. He told stories of his youth in Denver and of his romance with Joyce. They were married June 21, 1959 and soon after moved to Albuquerque. He was a draftsman, drawing illustrations for Kirtland Air Force Base. His brilliant mind for business quickly advanced him, with Joyce by his side, to start his own company, Business Graphics Inc. The business started as a drafting company and grew to a successful graphic art and screen-printing business. He loved working with wood and built beautiful furniture for his home and fun toys for his grandchildren. He was a wealth of knowledge and could fix anything. He loved teaching his grandchildren to fish, how to use the zillions of tools he owned and shared his insatiable knowledge of technology. His many stories included adventures with his family and friends, silly dreams, and life experiences. Lee was witty and always had a joke to share. He was a people person and would strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere.
He put his family, church, and friends first. He had a servant’s heart and spent many hours using his graphics and finance expertise volunteering (working) on projects for the church he loved so deeply. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the medical staff and all that took care of Lee at Rust Presbyterian for their devoted loving care. They are true angels and heroes.
