Kirby W. Reed

Kirby William Reed died on June 5, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on March 6, 1955 in Albuquerque, attended Zia Elementary School, Jefferson Jr. High School, and Highland High School, graduating from the latter in 1973. He worked a few years in Lake Tahoe and Albuquerque and then earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of New Mexico. After college, Kirby worked in computer science fields at Digital in Nashua, New Hampshire and at several companies in Albuquerque.
Kirby was diagnosed with kidney failure in the early 2000s and for more than a decade underwent kidney dialysis, beating the odds for longevity while living most of this period at Las Colinas Village in Albuquerque. For the last decade of his life, Kirby maintained his enthusiasm for all kinds of music, demonstrating natural talent on the guitar and with synthesizers. He was a vibrant conversationalist, interested in all areas of politics and society.
Kirby was preceded in death by his parents Myron and Frances Reed. Kirby Reed is survived by his sisters Linda and Barbara and their families: Linda and Steve Radigan (Albuquerque, NM); Michael and Rhonda Radigan and children (Grapevine, TX); William and Nicole Radigan and children; Meg Radigan and Jon Blaich and child (Albuquerque); Barbara Reed and Gary Davison (Northfield, MN) and Ryan Davison-Reed (Burlington, VT).
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, June 21 at 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Kidney Foundation.
