John Patrick Van Dyke

John Patrick Van Dyke, 84, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023. John was born in Ashland, Oregon, to Naomi and Frank Van Dyke. John received a Bachelor of Science at CalTech and his PhD in Physics at the University of Oregon. John was a valued Systems Analyst for Sandia National Laboratory, recognized for his significant contribution to key national projects across more than 50 years of employment. John was an active member of the Presbyterian church, serving as a ruling elder in three churches in Albuquerque. John was an adoring husband of 59 years to his wife, Karmen, and a devoted parent to his children, Jeff, Melissa, Matthew, and Gabriel. John is also survived by daughters-in-law, Debbie and Charmaine; son-in-law, Billy; grandchildren, David, Justin, Kirstin, Elizabeth, Katherine, Brian, Brandon, Britney; and his sister, Bonnie Michaels. In addition to the community of Second Presbyterian Church and other attentive friends, the family wishes to express gratitude and love to caregivers, Ryan Chavez and Hannah Quint, Health Professionals, Chelsea Palmer, Nancy Thompson, and Stephanie Gonzalez; and brother-in-law and healthcare advocate, Doug Dammrose. A Memorial Service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Thursday, February 19, 2023, at 4:00 pm. Donations can be made in John's name to the Rio Grande Food Project ( https://www.rgfp.org/ ) or to the border outreach services of Second Presbyterian Church.
