John M. Gilmore

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of John M. Gilmore announces his unexpected passing at age 66, on the morning of Saturday, September 16, 2017. John was born November 26, 1950 in El Paso, Texas to David and Maureen Gilmore. Residing in Albuquerque for the majority of his life, he was a loving family man, great friend, and successful local businessman.

John established National Benefit Alliance, a successful brokerage consulting firm which advocated on behalf of large employer groups in the Health and Welfare Industry.

John’s pride and joy were his kids. Everything he did was for them, from attending and coaching their sporting events, taking them on trips, and coaching them through life. In his children’s eyes, whenever there was a challenge, John always had the right answer teaching them to make good choices based on strong values. His children will be forever blessed by this amazing father.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Leslie Umphrey; children, Katherine Gilmore Mosley, Steven Gilmore, David Gilmore, and Anna Perez-Umphrey; grandchildren, Samuel and Shane Mosely; his siblings, Marty Gilmore, Bob Gilmore, Rita Ingram, and Joe Gilmore; stepfather, Major General Frank W. Nye; and uncle, Joe Heneberry. John will also be fondly remembered by his extended family and countless friends.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
