We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jerry D. Benton, age 63 on Thursday, January 12, 2023, after a long battle with cancer and lung disease. Jerry was born in Albuquerque, NM., on Thursday, April 16, 1959.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Connie of 35 years; sons, Joe Benton and wife, Victoria, Josh Benton and wife, Crystal, Eric Gandara, and Cooper Gandara; grandchildren, Daruis, Veronica, Aubry, and Paul; brother, Jay Benton; nephew, Gilbert Benton and wife Darlyn; great nephew and niece, Gilbert Benton Jr. an Faye Benton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Bernice Benton.
Jerry was a graduate of Rio Grande High School and quickly applied his passion of cars, and the knowledge he gained from his grandfather, who he called “Poppy”, to the point that he owned his own reputable mechanic business. Jerry’s passion was fixing vehicles, especially the older models. Jerry was the “go to guy” and could fix any vehicle, and some would call him “The Master”!! Jerry loved riding around in his 1972 Cheyenne pickup, he loved family, and enjoyed spending time with his wife, Connie. Animals held a held a huge place in Jerry’s heart, especially his dogs, Bear and Baby.
Special thanks to Jay Benton for all your love and assistance over the years, and to Pat Beasly for always being Jerry’s right-hand man on everything and a true friend through it all. Jerry will be missed by his family and friends. He impacted all our hearts, and we were all touched by his living presence.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – University with Reception to follow.
