Hans Herrmann, 79, passed away surrounded by family on April 17, 2022. He was born to Ernst and Hilda in New York on July 8, 1942. After losing his mother at a young age, he and his father moved to St. Louis, Oakridge, and settled in Huntsville, AL. Hans attended Auburn University and was a walk-on for their baseball team. After a couple years at Auburn, he decided to move to Dallas as a shoe salesman. He later joined the military. The military brought him to New Mexico in 1965 and he was immediately smitten with its bright blue skies and stunning views. He would often tell the story of stepping off the plane and stating that he would never leave this state. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Dee Herrmann. They are survived by their 3 children, Dee Dee Griffin (Justin), Kristin Herrmann, Jimmy Herrmann and 4 beautiful granddaughters (Alice, Molly, Tessa, Wednesday). He worked in the grocery business and taught himself everything there is to know about the stock market which led him to his second career as a financial advisor. Hans loved his pets like family members, playing the ponies at The Downs, making money in the market, and a great round of golf with friends. He was a devoted supporter of high school athletics and was the scorekeeper and announcer for Eldorado and Sandia volleyball and basketball teams for several years. His family and friends could always rely on him to be a character. He was an open and honest communicator, so he often brought humor to a conversation without even trying. His sense of humor, love for his pets, amazing knowledge of the stock market, and love for sports will be missed by his family and friends. Services will occur on Thursday, May 26 at FRENCH-Wyoming. Visitation will start at 9:30AM, with a memorial service at 10AM. Burial will take place in Santa Fe at 1:30PM. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in memory of Hans Herrmann to the Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Organization (Home ' Old Friend Equine (oldfriendsequine.org)).
