Flotilla Rolison

d. November 19, 2019

Flotilla Rolison, 85, was called to her eternal resting place on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, with her husband and daughter by her side. She entered this world on Monday, February 26, 1934, in Clayton, NM, born to Franklin and Flotilla Lawrence. Flotilla (Flo) moved to Santa Fe, NM with her family as a young child and lived there until she got married in 1955. She and her husband then relocated to Albuquerque, NM where she resided for the rest of her life. Flo was one of the first women to work in large ticket sales selling sewing machines and vacuum cleaners for Sears Roebuck and Company for 16 years. She retired from Sears and became a real estate broker until her second retirement 15 years later. Flo had a life-long passion for learning and was a very talented person who never was afraid to try her hand at something. Whether it was her beautiful paintings, her quilting and sewing skills, or just improvising a recipe, Flo loved to create. Flo was a very loving and accepting person who entertained others’ ideas even when they differed from her own. She could also be feisty if someone spoke bad about her family or her team, the Broncos. Flo and her husband of 64 years, Edison, have been members of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church since the 1960s. Flo had a very strong Christian faith, loved the Lord, and had liked going to church since she was a small child.

Flo was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Flotilla Lawrence; her sister, Cecile Kartas; her sister Eula Mae Chappell; her brother, Daniel Lawrence; and her son, Thomas Rolison. She is survived by her husband, Edison; her daughter Karen Welsh (George) of Albuquerque, NM; her brother Frank Lawrence of Ringling, OK; her sister Gloria Brazda (Dave) of Santa Fe, NM; her sister Carole Brito (Bruce Besser) of Santa Fe, NM; her grandchildren, Justin Shea (Amy) of Albuquerque, NM, Jeremy Rolison of Denver, CO, Thomas Rolison of Albuquerque, NM, Kelsea Welsh of Portland, OR, and Kiri Welsh of Albuquerque, NM; and two great-grandchildren, Kellan Shea and Cora Shea of Albuquerque, NM.
