Eileen Marie Barreras

On Monday, August 12, 2019, Eileen Marie Barreras, loving daughter, sister, and mother of two children, passed away at age 68.

Eileen was born on Wednesday, August 8, 1951 in Denver, CO to Frank and June (White) Barreras and was the eldest of their five daughters.  She moved to California as a child and graduated from Escondido High School in Escondido, CA in June 1969. She raised her children in Vista, CA until 1993 when she moved to Albuquerque, NM to be closer to her family, and then to Edgewood in 1996 to the home she loved so much.  Eileen enjoyed the outdoors, feeding the birds, and had a passion for gardening and working in her greenhouse. In the spring and summer she would have hummingbird feeders not only at her home, but at her office for patients and staff to enjoy. She collected wind chimes, crazy sunglasses, and loved to read. Eileen was very active in the ballooning community and was well known for the huge tailgate spreads that she loved to share with her balloon family and crews. She was also a greeter at her church.

Eileen was preceded in death by her father, Frank.  She is survived by her mother, June; her two children, Nichole "Nikki" Massey (husband Rick), Kevin Guevara (wife Tiffany); and sisters, Jeannette Schwandt, Carol Barreras, Suzie Kelley, and Judy Barreras. Eileen was a loving and caring grandmother of 6 grandchildren, Whitney (21), James (20), Elizabeth (17), Bradley (17), Jordan (16), and Kali (13). She was also a great grandmother of two, Khloe and Trevor, in addition to aunt of four nieces and three nephews, and a cousin to many.

A Celebration of Life for Eileen will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Jesus First Church, 13432 Copper Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87123.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the organization with a mission she was dearly dedicated to, Jesus First Church, PO Box 23248, Albuquerque, NM 87192.
