Earl Frazier Douglass, Jr.

Buddy Douglass (Earl Frazier Douglass, Jr.) was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1952 to Earl and Erna Douglass, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He is survived by his former wife, Cathy Martin, their daughter Lindsay Mata, her three daughters, Lauren, Ryleigh and Nina of Albuquerque, NM, his sister Brenda Bawden (Monte) of Lewistown, MT, sister Diana Hanks of Spring, TX, sister Sandy Flowers (Bob) of the Woodlands, TX, his brother Robert Douglass (Denise) of Albuquerque, NM and their respective families.

Buddy began his accomplished career in commercial banking after graduating from Del Norte High School where he played baseball and football in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received his Bachelors from UNM in 1976 and graduated from Stoniers Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers University in 1983. In New Mexico he worked at First National Bank and in Colorado at Jefferson Bank and Trust, ending his career as President of Firstbank of Colorado, retiring in 2012. He served on the boards for Habitat for Humanity of Colorado, Family Homestead Denver, Jefferson County Library Foundation, Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation, Jefferson County Public Schools, and the Colorado Department of Higher Education. He was an avid supporter of Mile High United Way and the Denver Ronald McDonald House.

Buddy enjoyed fishing and boating at Heron Lake, NM and the lakes around Denver. He loved his dogs and collecting cars. He frequently supported the Broncos, Nuggets, Rockies and Avalanche and his granddaughters dance and volleyball events. Buddy took pride in his family and in helping others. He was a true humanitarian, loved and missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023 at FRENCH - Lomas in Albuquerque, NM. Memorial donations may be made in Buddy's name to Habitat for Humanity. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Presbyterian Healthcare hospice for their care and compassion.
