Dorothy Jane (Curns) Bennett

September 3, 1930 — April 21, 2021

Dorothy Jane Curns Bennett went to be with her Heavenly Father and many loved ones on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Frank and Helen Curns; her twin sister, Frances; and sisters, Helen, Barbara, and Virginia; and her aunt, Dorothy Frye.

Dorothy was born on Wednesday, September 3, 1930 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1948. On Saturday, December 17, 1949, she married Raymond E. Bennett at Rio Grande Presbyterian Church, becoming a member of the church in 1950. There she served as Sunday School teacher and Deacon. After retiring from Albuquerque Public Schools, she spent years tracing her family genealogy and connecting with distant relatives. A breast cancer survivor, she enjoyed making personal cards celebrating the events and lives of friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond; daughter, Helen Gaye Baca and husband, Fernandez; sons, Mark and partner, Ron, Ron and wife, Leanne, and Wayne; grandsons, Enriques and Diego Baca, and Brian Bennett and wife, Tabatha; granddaughters, Nicole Barela and Frances Vanover and husband, Bill; and great-grandchildren, Miranda, Carlos and Audrianna Barela, Amara Welsh, Aurora Vanover, Annabelle Baca, and Felix Bennett.

She felt blessed to have had the unconditional love she received from her family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Rio Grande Presbyterian Church, 600 Coors Blvd NW.
