Dora Maestas, age 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and long-time resident of Albuquerque and Las Vegas, NM was called to her eternal resting place on Thursday, May 9, 2019. She entered this world on Sunday, August 19, 1934 in Mora, NM, born to Benjamin and Josefita Romero. She is survived by her husband, Juan R. Maestas; daughter, Judy Roybal Quintana and husband, Freddie Quintana of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Patricia Roybal Ortiz and husband, Andrew Ortiz of Albuquerque, NM; son, Anthony Roybal and wife, Theresa Roybal of Pueblo, CO; grandchildren, Marcos Soto of Pueblo, CO, Marlene Soto Pendergrass of Norfolk, Virginia, Angel Roybal of Albuquerque, NM, Miranda Ortiz-Ulibarri of El Paso, TX, and AJ Ortiz of Albuquerque, NM; great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Sergio Soto of Pueblo, CO, Donovan Pendergrass of Norfolk, VA, Alicia Ulibarri of Albuquerque, NM, and Aubriella Ulibarri of El Paso, TX. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia Martinez of Santa Clara, CA and Carlota Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM, as well as several very special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dora was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. She was deeply devoted to the Virgencita of San Juan de los Lagos. Dora was a longtime store manager of the Montgomery Wards in Las Vegas, NM, where she retired. She also worked alongside her husband as an usher at the Albuquerque Isotopes for twelve years and was loved by many of the regular club level spectators. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and embroidery. She was definitely a people person, who loved to entertain and cooked like no other. Dora was the matriarch of her family, adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, supporting them unconditionally. She was a giving, kind soul, who loved to listen and offer advice, and always helped the less fortunate. She could also be referred to as "a pistol" because she was always ready to protect her family at the drop of a dime! She believed in presenting yourself with grace and class, loved to dress up, always wore her red lipstick, and had the most beautiful blue eyes. Dora was a strong woman with a beautiful soul and was loved by everyone she met.

A Rosary will take place in her honor on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, 8:15 a.m., with a Mass to follow at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church at 5901 St. Josephs Dr NW. Interment will follow,12:45 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
