Dolores E Hartley

October 21, 1923 — October 8, 2018

Dolores Elaine Hartley passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2018, a few days before her 95th Birthday. She is survived by her three daughters, Marsha Suzuki (husband Larry), Paula Bray (husband John), Janis Hartley, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold and son Kevin.

Dolores was born to Polish immigrant parents in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married Harold, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis on October 10, 1943.  As an Army wife, she moved frequently and lived an interesting life, spending time in Massachusetts, Florida, California and Germany.  After leaving the military, Harold and Dolores moved their family back to Minneapolis, later to Detroit, Michigan, and, finally, to New Mexico, where they lived in White Rock and Albuquerque.

Dolores went back to school when all of her children were students and became a Licensed Practical Nurse working in hospitals in Garden City, Michigan, and Espanola, New Mexico. She enjoyed needlework, sewing many outfits for her daughters and their dolls, quilting and doing needlepoint.  She volunteered for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels.  After retirement, Harold and Dolores traveled frequently. They especially liked taking cruises and visiting Israel and Hawaii.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 3rd, 11:00am, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. In lieu of flowers, Dolores would be honored if a donation would be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pamilla Senior Living and Heartland Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they gave to Dolores.
