On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, in Albuquerque, NM, Diane K. Yanney, lost her courageous battle with cancer at the age of 73. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Mattacola; nieces, Marjorie Yauk (Darren), Alice Mattacola; and great-nephews, Tucker and Connor Yauk. Preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marjorie Yanney; and step-mother, Dorothy Yanney. As a graduate of Iowa State, she then received her Master's Degree at Madison in Home Economics Journalism. Diane was a talented writer and was a senior editor at Meredith Publishing in Des Moines for over 30 years. She was a gifted storyteller, and had the ability to keep a captive audience in her writing and in person. An expert quilter, knitter, and all-around DIY lady, Diane had a knack for learning how to make beautiful things and sharing them with the people she loved. She also was an avid traveler and was able to realize her dream of living in New Mexico after spending most of her life in Des Moines, IA. There she spent countless hours volunteering with elementary school kids teaching reading, and working as a docent, educating people on her favorite place to be, Albuquerque. She loved her community and was surrounded by wonderful friends. Her charisma, laughter, and humor will be missed by anyone that had the opportunity to interact with her. A selfless, down-to-earth, and strong woman, Diane made her mark on the world, and has left it much brighter than before she came.
