David Ernest Grebe, 73, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 21, 2021. David was born to Donald and Lura Grebe in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 30th, 1947.
In 1952 at the age of 5, David's family moved to his lifelong home of Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from Sandia High School in 1965. In 1970, David met his wife Barbara, and they were married on September 3rd, 1971. From 1969 to 1978, he served in the Air National Guard.
David graduated from UNM with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, continuing on to become a Certified Management Accountant. David worked as a Controller throughout his career, managing small businesses including most recently, Stillbrooke Homes. He was very active in the IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) both locally and nationally for 30 years, including serving as President of the local IMA chapter.
For the last two years, we have watched ALS take its toll on David's body. However, we have also witnessed the strength of David's faith in the Lord through the entirety of the trial. He has been and will remain a godly example to us all. He was involved in a men's Bible study for 40 years with the same group of close friends. David loved photography, traveling, ancestry research, his church and most of all, his family. The last several years, he took great pride and found much joy in being known as grandpa to 7 grandchildren who loved him immensely.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Grebe of Albuquerque, NM; his son Rick Grebe, wife Justina and grandson Jax of Aurora, CO; his son Kenny Grebe, wife Amy and grandkids Aislyn, Grayson, Macey and Lachlan of Corrales, NM; his daughter Charlotte Balat, husband Arnaud and grandkids Zoe and Pierre of Round Rock, TX; his brother Dick Grebe and wife Vickie of Albuquerque, NM and brother Robert Grebe of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8th at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque at 10:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, May 10th at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association.
