Daryl Edward Webster

February 21, 1945 — August 18, 2019

Born February 21,1945 in Aurora, IL to Albert R. Webster and Ruby C (Upchurch) Webster. They moved to Albuquerque when he was 8 years old. He attended MacArthur Elementary and graduated from Valley H.S. in 1963. He was a member of FFA. Of all the animals he raised and learned to care for in FFA, he loved his horses and horseback riding the most.

He worked for Automotive Electric after graduation. He was hired on as a mechanic with Downtown Imports which became Albuquerque Datsun and later Albuquerque Nissan, where he became Service Manager. He was there for 23 years. Daryl decided to change careers in 1992. He obtained his Contractor’s License and started his own company, Accent Maintenance and Repair. He retired in 2012 after 20 years in his dream job.

Daryl loved all things mechanical. Learning from his father who built his first car with a washing machine motor. Daryl went on to build and restore many cars, dune buggies, go-carts, and minibikes. He loved showing his work at local car shows. He also loved traveling, camping and boating. Some of his favorite places were Silverton, Ruidoso and White Sands. Mostly when there was a car show going on there. He also had a passion for flying single engine Cessnas and Musketeers. If he was not flying or working on his cars, he spent many hours dirt-biking with friends.

Daryl met his wife, Julie at the Sundance on dance lesson night December 6, 1989. A tall handsome cowboy that needed no lessons (two-stepping, the swing, waltz and cotton-eyed-joe). He told his mom that night that he had met the girl he was going to marry, and he was right. They were married four months later on April 7, 1990.

Daryl’s pride and joy included his four children, Daryl Moyer (Beth), Kristyl Smith (Otley), Joy Babnick (Robert), and Brandon (Jeanette); stepdaughter, Nicole; and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his fur-babies, Shih Tzus, Muggins and Penelope, who miss him dearly. Some of his best memories were of his cousins, Lannie and Kenny Upchurch who were like brothers to him.

Most importantly Daryl loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque since 2008. He loved being a greeter, an usher, teaching his sunday school class and attending the men’s monthly breakfast and bible study. He enjoyed leading the class in the Lord’s prayer and reading to them from a book about Heaven.

In lieu of flowers he would want you to honor his memory by donating to a cancer research, your favorite animal rescue or shelter.

His family would like to thank all those who prayed for and with him. Your visits were treasured and appreciated. Thank you for your friendship, support, meals, cards, well wishes, kindness, and encouragement.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses, techs and administrative staff at Rust Medical Center and mostly the Oncology Department, Presbyterian Home Health Care, and Hospice. You always made he feel important, vital, special, and cared for. Assisting him when he needed it and making him comfortable. Treating him with dignity, respect and kindness.
