Christopher Lee Schmille

d. May 11, 2019

Christopher Lee Schmille, 70, of Albuquerque, New Mexico made his transition on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at his home. Chris was born on Wednesday, March 23, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1964. He graduated from Manzano High School, was in the National Honor Society, Math Club, and played basketball and football. Chris graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of University Studies in 1971.

Chris was baptized at Unity Temple in Kansas City, Missouri and was a member of Unity Spiritual Center of Albuquerque for fifty-four years. During that time he taught Sunday school, served on the Board of Directors, volunteered as a prayer chaplain, and facilitated a study on A Course in Miracles.

Chris had a diverse career from selling Hyster forklifts and Kenworth trucks to his most rewarding profession as a mortgage banker, for more than 35 years. He found great pleasure and personal fulfillment in enabling people to realize their dream of home ownership.

Chris coached YAFL football and was an avid fisherman. He cherished his time at Conchas Lake with his family, friends, and the church youth group (YOU). He enjoyed fishing for his favorite fish (walleye), boating, and water skiing.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Donald Schmille; mother, Mary Jane Schmille; his sons, Hoyt Schmille and Jayce Schmille; and nephew, Josh Schmille. Chris is survived by his wife, Pam Schmille of 48 years; son, Seth Schmille; granddaughter, Serenity Schmille; stepmother, Charmaine Schmille; his brothers, Rick Schmille and wife, Judy; Randy Schmille and wife, Betty; sister, Marianne Murphy and husband, Joe; his nieces and nephews, Garrett Schmille and wife, Jessie, Derik Schmille, Natalie Schmille, Hayley Escandon and husband, Nico, and Bryan Murphy; grandnephews, Ethan Schmille, Shane Schmille, Timothy Schmille, and Tegan Schmille.

There will be a celebration of Chris' life Thursday, May 23, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Unity Spiritual Center, 9800 Candelaria Rd. NE.
