Charles Lee “Moose” Galassini, SMSGT, 85, passed away November 25, 2021. He was born in Raton, New Mexico, November 28, 1935 to Sylvia and Joe Galassini. He graduated from Raton High School in 1955, where he was active in sports and class president. He was in the Navy from May 1955 to May 1959. Upon returning to Albuquerque, he met Margaret Ann McCollum and married December 30th 1961. Together they raised their two daughters and loved and supported each other. Their home was the gathering place and refuge for both sides of their large extended family.
Charles joined the New Mexico Air National Guard in July 1963, serving one tour in Viet Nam in the late 60’s. During his time in the guard he met many lifelong friends he considered family. Upon his retirement in July 1995 he enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, Marge, and his grandchildren. He was very active in their activities, never missed a birthday or baseball game. Fishing with his mother-in-law, getting together and traveling with family and friends, were a few more activities that he enjoyed.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Danielle Creekmore and husband, Jimmie, of Williamsburg, VA. Becky Coffman and husband, Richard, of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Harry Galassini and wife, Sarah; sister, Harriett Mathis of Clewiston Florida; grandchildren, James Creekmore and wife, Amanda, Kimberly Ronco and husband A.J., Jacob Coffman and wife, Ashlynn, and Christopher Coffman and wife Cerra; 5 and 3/4 great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his Guard family and friends.
