Bonnie Ruth Parks, 69, a 50-year resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed on Friday, March 6, 2020, at home under the care of her loving husband and two sons. She is survived by her husband, Robert Parks; son, Jeff and wife, Caryl, and kids, Steffan, Tjaden, and Micah; and son, Trent and wife, Renae, and daughter, Mia; and brothers, Leroy and Virgil Conrad.
Bonnie was born in the Midwest, the daughter of a wheat farmer in rural Kansas. She married her high school sweetheart “Bob” on April 5, 1969. They were perfect for each other! When Bob accepted a position at Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque, they moved west from Kansas soon after the wedding.
Bonnie started as a beautician in Albuquerque, but her love for art and nature soon became her focus. After studying oil painting, she went on to show her work at local art shows. In 1986, she opened Another Place ‘N’ Time, an arts and crafts store in Tijeras, NM. During her ownership of Another Place ‘N’ Time, she cultivated many amazing friendships and touched everyone she met. Bonnie and Bob were also long-time members of Mountain Christian Church in Cedar Crest, NM.
When Bob decided to retire, Bonnie closed her shop of 23 years. They spent every waking moment together traveling and spending time in Pagosa Springs, CO, where they own a second home. They spent their days hiking, kayaking, and gardening. She eventually rekindled her passion for painting through watercolors. Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, and “Nee Nee” to her grandchildren, and treasured family above all. She will be missed greatly by her family and the many people she touched throughout her beautiful life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Mountain Christian Church, 12242 NM-14, Cedar Crest, NM, 87008.
Services will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021, 10:30 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.
