Barbara Ann (Sullivan) Embery

October 10, 1937 — February 16, 2021

Barbara Ann (Sullivan) Embery was born in Lubbock, Texas, to Robert N. Sullivan and Jewel Sullivan on Sunday, October 10, 1937.  The family farm was located near Ropesville, Texas.  Barbara attended and graduated school in Ropesville, graduating in 1955.  Following graduation, Barbara enrolled at Wayland Baptist College, Plainview, Texas, from which she graduated with teaching credentials in 1959.  Her first teaching assignment was with the Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Texas School system.
Barbara and John Embery married Saturday, August 30, 1958.  At her death on Tuesday morning of this week, the couple had been married more than sixty-two years.  The couple had served churches in Utah, Idaho, and New Mexico.  They had been residents in Albuquerque, for thirty-three years.  Barbara was a teacher at Chelwood Elementary, and retired from teaching while serving there.   Mrs. Embery’s chief accomplishments were with her family, her students, her neighborhood, and community.  She gained her strength from her relationship to the Lord Jesus and the continuing support of her family.  She is survived by her husband, John, daughters Stephanie, of Phoenix, AZ and Sharon of Kansas City, MO, and teen-aged granddaughters Sydney and Sofie of Kansas City.  She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She will be sorely by all of us and her furry dog friend, Jewels.
A family service of burial will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, on Tuesday morning, February 23, 2021.  The family is considering a memorial service at a later date.
