Arnold Gregory Klein

d. July 25, 2020

Arnold G Klein, age 60, beloved father, ex-husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed from this world on July 25, 2020, from a stroke caused by complications of leukemia which he had been battling for seven months.

Arnold and his twin sister Hilarie were born on August 16, 1959 in Denver, Colorado to Gerald B. and Fernand Klein. He grew up in Broomfield CO, where he lived with his seven siblings. He attended Northglen High School graduating in 1977. He attended Colorado Mountain College in Leadville Colorado earning an Associate’s degree in machine shop. He then went on to earn a BS in Mechanical Engineering and MBA from the University of Wyoming. He initially worked at Hughes in Tucson Arizona and then came to Albuquerque to work at Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon plant as an engineer. He worked there twenty years and made many life-long friends from his time there.

Arnold talked fondly about growing up in north Denver. He spent a lot of time outdoors fishing and hunting and just exploring in general.

Arnold had a keen intellect. He was inventor and has many patents. He developed his ideas into commercial products including Nectar Guard, Ant Foil, and the Nectar Mixer. In 2011 he successfully appealed a denial of his nectar mixer patent to the United States Circuit Court of Appeals creating a lasting precedent which helps all inventors on the topic of obviousness. To hear the oral argument for his case go to www.cafc.uscourts.gov/oral-argument-recordings and put In re Klein in the search field. He was always tinkering with something making prototypes out of everyday items for his ideas. Arnold loved the family dog and cat, nature, birds, riding his bike weekly with his friend Alan, contemporary folk music, and instant coffee.

Most of all, Arnold loved his children. He was an excellent father and enjoyed being at home as a stay at home dad. He took them out into nature and taught them to be good people. He was very proud of them and supportive of the beginning of their journey to become a doctor and a music teacher. He taught Gerald how to talk to trees and Corrina is as good, if not a better fisher than he.

He is survived by his children, Corrina Klein and Gerald F. Klein; his ex-wife, Bonnie Stepleton; his twin sister, Hilarie Watters; his sister, Audrey Klein; his brothers, Gerald B. Klein and Eric Klein. He was preceded in death by his brother, Martin Klein; sisters, Leslie Klein and Valerie Millert.
