Born July 12, 1937, he slipped into eternity Sunday, March 29, 2020, at 82 years old. He battled Mesothelioma Cancer. He was a fighter till the end. Arlan was a Green Beret, Staff Sergeant in the US Army The 5th special forces 9th Infantry Division Long Range Patrol "E" Co, 50th Inf (ABN)(LRP) "E" Co, 75th Inf (ABN)(RGR). He was always active in sports. He played football in the military. He held arm wrestling tournaments for many years in Albuquerque NM. In his later years he enjoyed the Senior Olympics and received many awards. He loved oil painting after retirement and enjoyed sharing his artwork with family and friends.

He loved his family dearly. A visit with him was always full of his stories and adventures from his past. He never let a conversation go by without saying how proud he was of his family and how much he loved them. He was always interested in what you were doing in your life. He could fix just about anything and would always help family and friends on projects. He loved God and in his last days he prayed often.

He is survived by wife, Dina; his three sons, Arlan Mark Wieland and wife, Katie, Don Garcia and wife, Jackie, Ralph Garcia and wife, Anita; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Soule; and brother, Jerry Wieland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Helen Wieland and two sisters, Beverly Ann Allan and Carol Jean Chadwick.

After long deliberation and thoughtful consideration the funeral will be postponed once again. We believe dad deserves the best and nothing less. So, due to the current conditions and unknowns of COVID19 at this time it is best we wait. We were hoping to be back to normal by now. This has been hard and feels unfinished!

As conditions improve we will keep you posted on our new arrangements.
