Anne (Lanigan) Reed

June 11, 1935 — December 15, 2020

Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. She will be missed by her husband of 60 years, Wayne Reed. Theirs’s was a love at first sight, and they shared so many happy times, such as the birth of their children, Robert S. Reed and Susan P. Bellemore. Mam taught us the importance of family and being there for all the people we love.

Anne was born in Chorlton-on-Medlock Manchester, England, where she shared her love with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. As she grew into a young woman, she decided to have an adventure by moving to America, where she remained for 61 years.  Her family was so excited and proud of her spirit, one the remaining 4 brothers and sisters still know and feel her love.

Through her marriage, Anne gained brother and sister in-laws. She shared her love with all of them. Through family Anne has granddaughters, grandsons, nieces, great and grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews, and cousins both in the USA and back home in England and as far as Spain. She loved them all and was meticulous in recording births, anniversaries, and any important events in their lives.

Once in America, Anne settled into married life, being a wonderful mother. She then decided it was time to work and enjoyed over 25 years at visiting Nurses Association in Connecticut. In her personal time, she became a member of Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association (T.B.P.A.) to keep in touch with her British heritage with other brides moved to America after the war, and member of TOPS, taking of pound sensibly. She was known as a sunshine person, an angel that was always there to give support and encouragement to anyone on their weight loss journey. Anne lost over 69 ponds to become the CT 104 Chapter Queen. Something she was proud of and would share her story to help anyone that struggled with their weight. She made lifelong friends and will be missed for the sparkle in her eyes and the love she shared with all of them.

Anne moved to New Mexico in her retirement to be closer to her son and her granddaughters as they grew into young women. She enjoyed this new adventure and enjoyed family visits back to CT and in NM.

Anne Lanigan Reed,

I fell in love with you over 60 years ago and still do love you. From the daily good morning kiss, through the day, and the last kiss at night, I was loving you for being my strength. This will carry me into our future.

Your love of life inspired so many people that knowing you has enriched their lives. You are a remarkable lady. Thank you for choosing me to share your life and making our families so strong and loving, that you’re leaving us will still keep the center of our heart close to you. I still give you the kisses at morning light and the evening quiet.

With my everlasting love,
Wayne Wyman Reed, Husband.

Mom,

Your strength and love of family is the core of your soul. I am blessed to be your son and these traits are everlasting in my life. I would not be the man I am today without your dedication to and love of family, as well as your unabridged love you reflected daily to all you encountered. I will do my utmost to follow your lead and love my family as you did yours.

Thank you for being the guiding force in our family and teaching us how to be a family of love, strength, and courage to face life with a positive outlook. I can face the daily struggles with the resolve of knowing that your love of family lives in my heart.

I love and miss you,
Robert Stephen Reed, Son.

Mam,

But I still love you... so many times I heard you say this, and you would giggle, this was not just for me, but anyone in your family, if they did something silly, or mine and Rob's teenage years.... no matter what - you would say, but I still love you.

You have always been a role model for me, the strength you showed to take a chance and create a new life in America, the love and support you always have for your family. You always made sure I could believe in my dreams and happily shared all my successes in life, as well as being there to help me stand when things were not so good. I am the woman I am today because of your love, your belief, and your encouragement. You are the strongest woman I know and have faced adversity with courage and grace.

One of your greatest joy was sharing your love for your family, and a kiss or hug for anyone that was special to you. You accepted every new member of the family and showed us that love is unconditional.

I know the values you instilled in me will help me manage through this difficult time, you are always with me, in things I see, memories, and love.

I miss you... but I still love you. Susan Patricia Reed Bellemore, Daughter.
