Alexander Farrand

August 14, 1937 — October 25, 2021

Alex Farrand, long time resident of Albuquerque and beloved volunteer at Dennis Chavez Elementary School, now rides a different range.

Mr. Farrand visited several classrooms during the 2013-2019 school years but admitted Mr. Ormrod's second grade class was his favorite. He wore his cowboy boots and hat each time he visited the children, and usually played his guitar with such hits as Down by The Bay and Old McDonald. He told these boys and girls tall tales, brought in real branding irons, and shared his love of rocks and the Mayflower. The children gave him his own name "Darron Tall Tales" and scolded him if he forgot to wear his cowboy boots. Above all, Mr. Farrand brought love into every class and taught each of them that children are smart, important, and life can be fun! He left us Monday, October 25, 2021, and his new horse's name is Smoky.

A recent country music performer said," Anything worth thinking about is worth singing about." Thank you Mr. Farrand.

Alex worked very hard helping set up the Conservation Easement at The Orme Ranch located between Flagstaff and Phoenix, AZ. Donations in Alex's name can be made to The Central Arizona Land Trust at: P.O. Box 1050 Prescott, AZ 86302 or calt@centralazlandtrust.org.
