Willie Anthony LaCour, a man of extraordinary elegance, faith, and service, passed away peacefully in his home in Albuquerque, NM, on April 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 85 years old. Willie's final years were marked by a courageous battle with dementia, which he faced with the same quiet strength that defined his life. He has gone to join his parents, Willie and Mary Magdalene, who surely greeted him in heaven with open arms and a song
The greatest rhythm of Willie's life was the one he shared with his true love and constant companion of 64 years, Maria Elena. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion. Willie had a rare way of turning a simple dance into an elegant performance, leaving everyone in the room captivated by his rhythm and poise.
A pillar of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 57 years, Willie lived in humble service to God and others. He didn't just attend church, he embodied its mission. He served as a Minister of Holy Communion, a mentor in the RCIA program, a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus, and a dedicated participant in Catholic Acts of Service. Every Sunday, his voice rose in praise as a member of the church choir.
Professionally, Willie was a cornerstone of the Mountain Bell Telecommunications team for 38 years. As a fiber technician, his career was marked by a standard of excellence and reliability When he wasn't working or serving his parish, Willie found his peace in the mountains. Some of the family's most cherished memories were made on camping and fishing adventures, where Willie taught those he loved that the best things in life are found in the quiet of nature
Willie was a proud and devoted patriarch. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Elena; his children, Charles, Mathew (Jessica), Derrick (Sandra), and Jimmie Del (Miguel). His legacy of grace lives on through his eight grandchildren: David, Lisa, Frankie, Lucas, Ariyanna, Amoreena, Nathan, and Ruben; and his five great-grandchildren: Sarina, Elise, Jaxon, Haillie, and Briella. He is preceded in death by his eldest son, Anthony Lawrence, whose memory he carried in his heart every day. His legacy continues through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. Willie leaves us with a legacy of quiet kindness, a humble heart, and a spirit that will forever dance in our memories.
