Listen to Obituary

Warren Vernon King of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a devoted husband and loving father of two, passed away after a short illness on December 16, 2025.

Born in Albuquerque to Roy and Rosina King, Warren was known from an early age for his playful sense of humor. He delighted in harmless pranks, especially on his mother—often hiding her car keys or shoes just before it was time to leave.Warren attended Albuquerque Public Schools and later studied mechanical engineering at the University of New Mexico. He paused his education to help support his parents, a decision that reflected his deep sense of responsibility and loyalty to family. He later returned to school, earning a certificate from Southwest Computer, and went on to build a successful career as a systems analyst for several companies. Warren worked hard throughout his life, and providing for his family was always one of his greatest priorities.

It was at one of his early companies that Warren met the love of his life, Denise Davis. Drawn together by his signature sense of humor and kind spirit, they quickly grew close. He proposed on Christmas Day, and they were married on July 4, 1977. Over 48 years of marriage, they raised two children, traveled across many states and countries, and remained steadfastly by each other’s side through all of life’s ups and downs.

Warren was a devoted and loving father to his children, Terra Jo and Steven, who miss him dearly. He took great pride in being a parent and in the kind, supportive, and responsible adults his children became. Among the many lessons he shared, one was always to keep the promises you make.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rosina King; his brother, Wayne King; and his grandson, Dash King. He is survived by his wife, Denise; his sister, Debbie MacCubbin; his daughter, Terra Whitehead, and her spouse, Jesse; his son, Steven King, and his spouse, Rhemy; his grandchildren, Iella, Jaina, and Luke Whitehead; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 6000 Kachina St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life reception in the same building.

Though we are heartbroken by Warren’s sudden passing, we wish this gathering to be a celebration of the man he was and will always be. Guests are encouraged to wear colors rather than black. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Warren’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
