Virginia Benita (Apodaca) Chavez

Virginia Benita Chavez, 96, was born Thursday, September, 8, 1927 in Chilili, NM to Ignacio Apodaca and Filomena Apodaca (nee) Montoya. Virginia married Louis Chavez in 1946. Louis preceded her in death in 2004. Together, they had eight children, John Chavez (Ilona), Barabara Jaramillo (Robert), Robert Chavez, deceased, Margaret Chavez, Ignacio Chavez (Dina), Christine Rostro (Dave), Patricia Masserini (Tom), and Martin Chavez (Anne).
Virginia was one of 12 siblings that survived into adulthood. She is preceded in death by 10 siblings: Gaspar, Esequiel, Mike, Lucia, Sotero, Antonia, Josefita, Eleanor, Daniel and Morris. Her sole surviving sibling is Phillip Apodaca. Virginia is survived by numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren.
There will be a Rosary for Virginia on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., with a Mass following at 10:30 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11509 Indian School Rd NE. Virginia will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
