Virgie Uvaughn Beall

Virgie Uvaughn Beall was born on March 9, 1948, in Del Norte, Colorado, to Sam and Garnet Birdsey. At her birth, she was welcomed home by her two brothers, Norman and Rocky Birdsey; and sister, Leslie, who all preceded her in death. Also preceding her death were her four-legged best friends, Branny, Lobo, and Bailey.

Uvaughn grew up in Creede, Colorado and attended Creede schools. She married Alfred Beall on March 14, 1966, in Creede, Colorado. In their 59 years of marriage, they raised three children in Creede, Colorado: Michael Beall, Flagstaff, Arizona; Lyndel Moore (Norman), Farmington, NM; and Tasha Beall, Albuquerque, NM. During her life in Creede, she and her husband owned and ran the Snow Shoe Motel. Uvaughn was very active in Girl Scouts, being a Brownie Leader for many years. Beginning in 1984, Uvaughn became known as "Nanny" when she was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Heather, Dustin, Derrick, Misty, Justin, Whitney, Kylan, Breanna, Allee, Rhyan Uvaughn, and Rori.

After selling the motel in 1986, the family moved to Alamosa, Colorado. After a short stay in Montana, she and Alfred moved to Farmington, NM, where she ran a daycare from her home for over twenty years. Many of the kids became very dear to her, with many visiting Nan with their own kids after they were grown. Uvaughn went from NAN to G NAN when the grandkids blessed her with 16 great-grandkids: Digger, America, Lyric, Lilly, Kannon, Brooks Vaughn, Taya, Tylie, Trexton, Taizleigh, Cason, JAMEY, Travis, Arianna, Bentley, and Braxton. The grandkids were the light of her life,and she was everything to all of them.

When Uvaughn's health started to deteriorate they sold their home in Farmington and moved to Albuquerque in July of 2024 to receive better care for her. She spent the last year shopping, getting her nails done, going to church, eating out, and even drinking coffee martinis with her husband, daughter, and granddaughter when she was able.

In addition to her immediate family she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws: Iris Birdsey, Jean Rice, Beverly Beall; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Beall; her life long best friends Fred and Gail Kroll; and goddaughter, Heather Kroll.

Virgie known to all as Uvaughn and to some as Vonnie, walked the stairs to heaven on September 2, 2025, at the UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM with her husband and family by her side comforting her as she left her pain behind. A graveside service and celebration of her life will be in Creede, Colorado on July 2,2026.
