Viola M. Wasson, age 93, was called to her eternal resting place on July 7, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wasson; father, Tom Martinez and mother, Alice Montoya Martinez; sister, Molly Wasson and husband, Eloy; sister, Ruth Casados and husband, Philemon. Viola and James shared marriage of 66 years upon James' passing. Viola will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Jim Martinez and wife, Denise; her children, Tom Wasson and wife, Debbie; Sam Wasson and wife, Betty; April Silva and husband, Andrew; James Wasson and wife, Patty; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Viola proudly served with the Federal Government for 46 years and retired from the Kirtland AFB Property Disposal Service, being recognized for her exceptional performance. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her retirement, she enjoyed painting, making pottery and gourd decoration. Many of her family display her artistry. She was also a world traveler having visited many countries as well as many US sites and cities. Viola was an active member of the Catholic Daughters, serving for 55 years. As a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church for forty-eight years, she was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and Mary the holy mother of Jesus, conducting her life in a loving manner and being an exceptional example and inspiration to her family.

A Rosary will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside, with a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87105, with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
