Victoria Naomi Rodgers (née Martinez), 87, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Calvary Church Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Road NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87109, on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at a nearby restaurant.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 27, 1938, to Edward and Ann Martinez, Victoria was the oldest of seven children. Victoria married her high school sweetheart, Clarence Rodgers, on May 23, 1959, and enjoyed celebrating their 66th anniversary last year. Together they raised three children while building a life filled with family vacations exploring the southwest via sand buggies and sailboats, and trips to the ocean, which she loved.
While raising a family that she adored, Victoria established herself as a nationally-recognized painter of landscapes that were displayed in galleries across the United States and Europe, and included paintings in the permanent collection of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, a trip to the White House to represent Hispanic artists, and works displayed in public buildings in New Mexico, along with a tenure on the Bernalillo County Arts Board. Over the course of her career she continuously developed and refined a unique visual style that reflected her personal spiritual journey to capture the beauty of nature, allowing the viewer to see the light and color of her sacred intentions.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Wayne, David, Edward, and Tim. She is survived by her husband, Clarence; her children, Cynthia Rodgers-Bernier, Christopher Rodgers, and Melissa Rodgers (Jeff Chiavetta); her four grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Arielle, Isabella, and Amelia; her two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Abigail; and her brothers, Michael, Pat, and Chris.
Memorial contributions may made to the ARCA Foundation or Alzheimer's Association.
