Ufelia Fernandez Moreland passed away on June 3, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 91.

She was born April 6, 1935, to Servando and Sabinita Fernandez in Truchas, New Mexico. She graduated from Menaul High School in Albuquerque in 1953 and shortly after married her childhood sweetheart, Lorenzo Moreland. As a military wife, she raised their five children and traveled to many places in the USA and abroad until settling in Albuquerque. She eventually retired from a 20-year career with the Kirtland Air Force Base BX Exchange.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lorenzo, to whom she was married for 54 years; their two sons, Lorenze Ronnie and Mark Dale; and her siblings, Flora Montoya, Dee Loeper, and Eileen Ball.

Ufelia is survived by three of her children: Dori Fonda (Roland), Jeff Moreland (Lisa), and Darryl Moreland; nine grandchildren: Michael Moreland (Kim), Kari Hernandez Valdez (Manuel), Jennifer Peacock (Alex), Chris Davis (Brittany), Jaymie Moreland, Matthew Moreland, Jeffrey Moreland Jr (Rilee), Jessica Moreland (Jacob), and Regina Moreland; and eight great-grandchildren: Vicente Valdez Jr, Kaitlyn Moreland, Austin Davis, Christian Davis, Nicolas Hernandez, Ellis Peacock, Scarlett Davis, and Alden Peacock. She is also survived by five siblings and their families: Dorothy Romero (Manuel), Lita Montoya, Mary Rodeheaver, Walter Fernandez (Alice), and Richard Fernandez.

Service Details on Monday, June 22, 2026:

  • Church Service: 11:30 am at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 9315 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM.

  • Burial Service: 2:45 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

  • Celebration of Life Reception: 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Elks Lodge, 1615 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM.

The family thanks everyone for their unwavering support during this time and invites all to come celebrate the life of Ufelia.

In her honor, guests are requested to wear something featuring the color pink or butterflies.

Floral tributes may be sent on June 22, 2026 to French Funerals at 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 with delivery between 8am and 9am or they may be brought directly to Covenant Presbyterian Church service.
