Tracy John Skipp Sr.

Dr. Tracy John Skipp Sr. passed away on July 10th 2026 at 60 years old. He was born to Nannette and Herbert Skipp on February 10th 1966 in Cape Cod Massachusetts. Raised in a military household his family was stationed along the east coast, in Hawaii, and then New Mexico. This is where he would go on to spend his adult life and consider home. He graduated high school at St. Pius in 1984 and continued on to college. He received a bachelor's of university studies from UNM in 1995, then he pursued his masters of arts in foundations of education in 2001 and went on to receive his doctorate of education in educational leadership in 2010. After graduating from the University of New Mexico with his bachelor's, he began working as an advisor on campus where he would later become an associate dean of the B.U.S. program . Working his way up the ladder he retiried as Director Emeritus of Liberal Arts & Integrative Studies.

He was an avid learner, excelled in critical thinking and had an infectious sense of humor. Behind every well thought out decision or plan was an equal amount of sarcastic remarks and checklists.If you needed to know trivia, like the artist to a song or a historical date / timeline you need just ask. His wealth of knowledge across the board paralleled his wit. He loved deeply and wore his heart on his sleeve. He was taken too soon and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his father Herbert Skipp, his children Tracy Skipp Jr, partner Hannah Olivera, Brennan Skipp, partner Juanita Astorga, Megan Swartz, spouse Levi Swartz, his grandchildren Grayson Chaves, Lochlann Skipp,Gabriella Diaz, Benjamin Skipp, Alexander Skipp, Adalynn Skipp, Theodore Skipp, Onyx Swartz. His brother Chris Skipp, spouse Jean Skipp, nephew Nikolas Skipp, niece Madeline Skipp. He is preceaded in death by his mother Nannette Skipp.

The funeral will be held at Risen Savior on August 3rd at 10 AM, to be followed by a graveside service at Gate of Heaven at 11:30.Reception to follow at French's on Wyoming.
