Tincy Joy Day

November 21, 1936 – October 13, 2026

Some lives are extraordinary from the very beginning, and Tincy Joy Day’s was nothing short of a miracle.

Born on November 21, 1936, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Waldon and Silla McCall, Tincy entered the world weighing just 1 pound, 12 ounces and measuring only 12 inches long, despite being born full-term. Against extraordinary odds, she not only survived but went on to live a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and joy. Her remarkable beginning captured the attention of newspapers, which continued to celebrate her life and her story throughout many of her milestone birthdays.

Tincy’s family moved to Albuquerque during her early childhood, and she graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1955. She went on to become an accomplished and astute businesswoman, building a successful career in banking and finance and eventually rising to the position of bank vice president. Her determination, intelligence, and strong work ethic were just a few of the many qualities that made her so remarkable.

But it was Tincy’s heart that truly set her apart.

She loved people and never met a stranger. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. She treasured family gatherings, and her annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations were among her favorite occasions, bringing loved ones together for good food, laughter, and cherished memories.

Tincy loved to cook, but perhaps even more, she loved seeing happy people gathered around her table enjoying what she had prepared. One of her favorite sayings really captures her great sense of humor: “I always cook with wine. And sometimes I even include it in the recipe!”

An animal lover throughout her life, Tincy was rarely without a beloved dog or two by her side. She also had a lifelong love of singing, filling the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with familiar melodies. Songs like “You Are My Sunshine” and “A Bushel and a Peck” will forever bring memories of her sweet voice and the love she so freely shared.

Her middle name, Joy, could not have been more fitting. It was not only her name but also something she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her. That beautiful name lives on through three more generations of her family: her daughter, Joshlynn Joy; her great-granddaughter, Genesis Joy; and her great-great-granddaughter, Alora Joy. A legacy of joy, passed lovingly from one generation to the next.

Tincy was the last surviving sibling of eight children, marking the end of a remarkable generation in the McCall family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Day; her son, Barron Day; her grandson, Mark Gordon; her husband Ben Day; and her long-term partner Thomas Hill.

She is survived by her daughters, Joshlynn Jaramillo and husband Victor, and Debbie Brown; her grandchildren, Lee Gibson and his children Devon, Christopher, and Hailey; Casey Nelson and his children Joshua, Jordin, and Genesis; and Paige Gordon and her children Brooklyn, Ivy, and Riley. She also leaves behind numerous great-great-grandchildren and countless family members and friends whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing her.

From the tiny baby who defied the odds in 1936 to the extraordinary woman who touched so many lives, Tincy’s story was one of strength, resilience, laughter, and boundless love. She lived with an open heart, loved without limit, and left behind a legacy that will continue for generations.

The world has lost a truly beautiful soul, but Heaven has welcomed home a one-of-a-kind miracle.

And what a beautiful miracle she was.
