Timoteo ("Tim") P. L'Esperance, 58, passed away on March 27, 2026 following a long and admirable fight against cancer.
Tim was a remarkable father, husband, brother, and friend. Remaining to remember him are his loving wife of 31 years, Denise L'Esperance; his children, Timoteo J. L'Esperance and Julia L'Esperance; his daughter-in-law, Sierra L'Esperance; his mother, Velma L'Esperance; his siblings, Celina Trujillo, Manuel L'Esperance, Christina Jay, Catalina Sander, Carolina Nishimoto, Jennifer Beadle and Cheryl Atma; and many nieces, nephews, and found family members.
He was reunited in passing with his father, Manuel C L'Esperance; and his mother-in-law, Caren D'Ornellas.
Tim was born on September 25, 1967, in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he attended Valley High School. He learned his craft as an Apprentice for the Operating Engineers, where he later returned as an instructor. Tim went on to serve the Santa Fe Fire Department for over twenty years as the Director of the Fleet, retiring from the Department in 2016. After the Fire Department, Tim continued to work hard, making meaningful contributions at Siddons Martin, BNSF, Titan Machinery, MES, and the University of New Mexico. He was admired for his strong work ethic, dedication to others, and commitment to mentorship throughout his career and beyond.
In his free time, Tim loved to camp, to travel, to hunt, to cook, and to spend time with family and friends for whom he cared so deeply. Those who knew him appreciated his kindness, sense of humor, ingenuity, and grit. No matter the task, Tim was always willing-and more than capable-to lend a helping hand.
Services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11 a.m., at French - Wyoming, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE. In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations in Tim's honor may be directed to the UNM Foundation - Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico (202254).
He will be deeply missed, forever in our hearts, and never forgotten.
