Thomas McCalmont

May 14, 1948 — September 20, 2023

Thomas V. McCalmont "Tom"

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Tom, who left this world on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. He was a beacon of light to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Tom touched countless lives with his kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love.

Born on May 14, 1948, Tom lived a life filled with purpose, seeking to make a positive difference in the lives of others. He had a passion for history and the outdoors, which he pursued with unwavering dedication from his time working on the Salmon Ranch, near Mora to serving as the founding director of the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.

Tom will be deeply missed by his loving family, including his wife, Frances; son, John and wife, Joyce; son, Michael; and grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Kellen and Alyson, as well as a wide circle of family, friends, and acquaintances. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of compassion that will forever be engraved in our hearts.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, David, mother, Dorathea, and brother, David. The void left by Tom's departure is immeasurable, but we find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, watching over us from above.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., FRENCH - Westside. Reception to follow at Paradise Hills Golf Course 10035 Country Club Lane NW. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in memory of Tom McCalmont.

May we honor Tom's memory by living our lives with the same humor, creativity, and love that he exemplified. Rest in peace, dear Tom. Your light will forever shine in our hearts.
