Thelma R. Baca, born October 22, 1935, in Bernalillo, New Mexico, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Baca; her son, Joseph Baca; her parents, Dolores and Vito Miera; her sisters, LuVena Trujillo and Juliette Aguilar; her brothers, Vito Miera Jr. and Orlando Miera Sr.; and her nephew; Orlando Miera Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Michael Baca and his wife, Leigh, and William Joseph Baca Sr. and his wife, Caroline. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Thelma is further survived by her sister-in-law, Lucille Miera, along with many cherished nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Born and raised in Bernalillo, Thelma was devoted to her family and treasured the time spent with those she loved. Her kindness, strength and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of family, faith, and enduring love that will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the many relatives and friends who lives she touched.
Thelma dedicated many years of service to the New Mexico State Fair as Concessions Manager. After her retirement, she worked at H&R Block, where she enjoyed meeting and helping people in her community.
Thelma had a joyful spirit and enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved spending time at the casino, sharing stories and laughter over a cold beer with family and friends, creating memories with those she loved most. Above all else, her family was the center of her world.
Those who knew Thelma will remember her warm heart, her sense of humor, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. Thelma was a devout Catholic. Her faith was very important to her. Her love and kindness touched countless lives, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Good Life Senior Living in Los Lunas, New Mexico, and High Desert Hospice for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care they provided to Thelma. Their dedication, friendship, and support brought comfort not only to Thelma but also to her family, and they will always be remembered with sincere appreciation.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 9:30am at FRENCH-Wyoming followed by interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
